Q: What is money spraying at Nigerian parties?
A: In many Nigerian celebrations, especially weddings, there’s a joyful tradition called money spraying. It’s a way for guests to shower the couple with blessings, prosperity, and encouragement. During the festivities, friends and family approach the couple and gently toss banknotes (most often $1 bills) over them as they dance. It’s all about sharing joy and showing love.
On the day, you might find vendors offering to exchange £s for $1 bills, but their rates can be quite high. If you’d like to join in, it’s worth getting your $1 bills in advance from a trusted exchange service—places like the Bureau de Change at Post Offices, Tesco, or John Lewis are good options.
